A Ride Through OVSC 1/29/12

A great Sunday afternoon on the trails! It would be nice if there was more snow out there, but conditions weren’t that bad considering the lack of snow.

Sunday Update…we have been able to do some grooming!

Yesterday we were able to groom from Canoe King out towards the Fire Tower and Wonalancet areas. Once you get further out in the system conditions  improve greatly with elevation. Unfortunately Corridor 19 still remains poor, and there are still some bony and slushy spots in our low areas. But with just a little more snow we should be able to start grooming more of our system, and hopefully on a more regular basis!

Weekend Update

We received less than half a foot of snow before everyting turned over to freezing rain then rain, making a slushy mess on the trails. We have a little bit more snow than last weekend but still no grooming and Corridor 19 remains hazardous for travel due to exposed rails, ties and switches. If you venture out use caution as we are unsure of trail damage/blockage due to the ice in the upper elevations.

Tonight’s storm and the weekend outlook

The weekend trail conditions will depend completely on how much snow, sleet, ice and even rain fall across our system tonight and into tomorrow. Once we get a handle on the storm results we will update our trail conditions page for those of you looking to ride this upcoming weekend!
